This may be a stupid question but I can't figure out how to install Max for Live devices in Live 9.
I got Max working and the Max For Live Essentials installed and working fine. But I can't seem
to install third party Max devices like Point Blank's, etc.
I can drag them from Finder into Live and they'll show up but they won't stay after I restart Live and
How can I get these devices to show in the browser. I've tried everything and can't find any answers.
Also in Live's browser under categories 'Max For Live' only some of my installed devices show up.![How How](/uploads/1/2/5/7/125757615/153032242.jpg)
Should my third party devices show up here also? I can't figure out how to get them to.
Hope this makes sense. Basically where do I put my '.AMXD' files so they can show up in Live's browser
under 'Max For Live' basically.A few years ago, shortly before I sold the synth workstation I had at the time (a Yamaha QS300), I saved some of my song sequences in Standard MIDI File format so that I could reconstruct some of the arrangements on another sequencer.
I hadn't got around to that until today, when I tried importing a few of the SMFs to Ableton Live 8.
Oh dear. The original songs were 16-channel arrangements (though not always making use of all 16 channels) but the MIDI data appears all to have been saved to a single MIDI track. Play them back in Live and I get a cacophonous racket comprising every single one of the instrumental parts, including drum patterns, trying to play at the same time using whatever VST instrument I have assigned to the track.
Could it be that I saved these songs in the wrong way when I originally exported them to SMF? There didn't appear to be a choice of methods available.
The QS300 manual described the SMF export function as follows: 'This comprises a single specified song in the Standard MIDI File format. The Standard MIDI File format is widely used by computer music software, sequencers, and synthesizers with built-in sequencers. This option provides data compatibility with such devices. Voice, output select, and play effect data is not saved with an SMF file. The tempo data is saved.'
Or have I missed some obvious step in the process when trying to import them to a new sequencer?
Live scans all available plug-ins and once completed they will show up in Live's browser under the Plug-ins category. If you've installed the plug-in correctly but it's still not appearing in Live, see our dedicated article: VST/AU plug-in doesn't appear in Live. May 23, 2018 No one was even interested in how Live works with the actual files, just why this chap cannot import a file when it's a given feature to be able to do so. Maybe the OP just wants to get into searching for sounds and loops and testing things out without having to boot up another program and convert everything they may want to try, save it. These are files that worked fine before in 8 and still work fine on my mac running live 8. It says that the file can't be read because it's corrupt or not licensed. Interestingly, it will import.avi files but says that the video can't be decoded (which is to be expected as Live uses quicktime). Importing stems or parts 1. Open Live's preferences to the Record Warp Launch section. Turn off Auto-Warp Long Samples. This is important to ensure that start markers line up exactly. Drag the audio files into Live, either from the Browser or from Finder (Mac)/ Explorer (Windows).
